As i’ve been praying and dreaming as we enter this new year that is now upon us, I really feel that God gave me a word for this season. Isaiah 42:9 says, “See the former things have taken place and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.” I truly believe that God is going to take this ministry through a year of “new things.” I believe as we chase after Jesus we are going to see new doors open in schools, new people reached for Jesus, new student leaders and revivalist on their campus winning their friends to Jesus.

I shared last week at the vine that the gospel demands a response. That when we encounter Jesus we experience something that will NEVER leave us the same. I challenged our young people and I challenge you now as well. If the gospel DEMANDS a response, and it does, then how are YOU responding? Is your response that of Andrew in the bible who encountered Jesus and the FIRST thing he did was run and tell his friend that he had found Jesus?

This year if we are truly going to see a move of God, its going to be through radical young people who say I don’t care what I look like or what it costs, i’m doing to grab the hands of my friends and lead them towards a life changing God. There are roughly 18,000 young people in high schools in our area. 365,000 teenagers in oregon. The time is NOW. There are broken, hurting, lost people who need Jesus. We have to preach a message that says come with ALL of your junk to the God who loves you despite all of your “stuff”.

We have some super exciting things coming up at the vine! This school year is going to be packed full of jammin stuff. Don’t miss out on whats happening! Get out of your box, invite your friends and lets see peoples lives impacted! Here are a few things coming up…

- Tomorrow night at 6:30PM at the family room, Cathryn Brinkman who is 1 of 7 people in the book resound just launched, will be sharing her POWERFUL story of what God did in her life. Don’t miss out on this! You will want to bring all your friends to this. We’ll also be BBQing after!

- Friday October 14th is the LOCK IN at the vine. We’ll have a live concert, lots of food, prizes and games going through out the night. At mid night, we’ll be busing everyone to a surprise event. You’ll receive a discounted price if you sign up AT the vine on any wednesday night leading up to October 14th. This is going to be rockin!

Make sure and get to church at resound on Sunday mornings as well! A thriving church is full of young people in the front row at church!

Least Likely

I believe God takes delight in using the “Least Likely.”

In Acts 4, Peter and John are arrested and accused of teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus and his resurrection. Earlier they healed a man crippled from birth.

Peter and John are arrested and brought before the Sanhedrin. Starting in Vv. 8 it says Peter, filled with the Holy spirit began to proclaim Jesus who was crucified and raised from the dead. It is by the name of Jesus that this crippled man was healed.

This is what inspires me…beginning in Vv 13 it says, “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were un-schooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

I was just talking with my good friend Daniel this afternoon and we were both blown away by what God is doing in our lives now and whats in store for the future. We both began to talk about how we’re just “average joe’s.” How we would be the last people to get picked out of the crowd to be doing what we’re doing. I’ve come to the conclusion that God delights in using the “least likely.” From Genesis to Revelation, God is using the outcasts. It says in the bible that God doesn’t look at people like we look at people. We look on the outside. He looks on the inside, at the heart.

Be encouraged that no matter where you’ve been or what you’ve been through, GOD CAN STILL USE YOU. God is not a playground picker. He gets glory out of using the unqualified.

sweet summer time…

Summer is going to be a huge season for the vine!

Our concept behind this summer is building relationships! We want to invest as much time connecting with our students and “doing life together” as possible with them this summer! We are going to be outdoors, grilling out, going to the beach, hitting up water parks and tons more!

A couple weeks before school starts we want to hold an encounter weekend two day getaway. We are going to create space for students and leaders to encounter Jesus, get refreshed, and be inspired to reach their friends for Jesus during the 2011 and 2012 school year!

Below are all the planned events for this summer. We’ve planned for an event twice a month! Invite all of your friends and come join us for a killer summer! (some locations are still TBD.)

Last night was a huge win for the vine!

We had over 60 people there! 10+ decisions for Christ. Happygolovely rocked the house and we had our biggest night!

We launched the vine three months ago with 2 people and now we’re hitting 40+ each night!

Ephesians 3:20-21 talks about how God is able to do immeasurably MORE than all we ask or imagine according to HIS power. God has gone above and beyond anything I could have imagined happening! We have an awesome leadership team, a super talented worship team and a great spot to meet every Wednesday night. God continues to blow my mind week in and week out.

Remember this week that we serve a God who goes ABOVE and BEYOND. Believe for big things in your life and I guarantee God will EXCEED your expectations!
